Re: Video game topic.
No its about helping third world countries......aquire video games.
Re: Video game topic.
At least where I'm from OPs should try to spark discussion or at least provide something of "value"... -.-
So video games, eh? Considering the page we are on... Fallout, anyone? More specifically, which ones have you played and did you like them? Any mods you'd like to suggest for FO3 or NV? Me, I've played FO3 but haven't played through all the DLC yet. Currently playing NV, trying to decide who I'm going to back up, if anyone. Also played the original a little, will probably be next on the list after NV. And I've liked all of these, a lot. Or at least I've spent quite a few hours with them...
Also, I'm quite aware discussion like this probably happened on the Facebook page but I didn't really follow the unrelated discussions there.
And if Fallout isn't your cup of tea why not share some other great games you've enjoyed?
edit: typos

I rather enjoyed the Fallout series though didn't know about it till the third which than I went back and played the older ones. I have had a hard time getting into the older ones as they feel extremely clunky to play however. FO3 I only played vanilla but NV I play with the Nevada project and some HD skins, don't think I could ever go back to vanilla again.
As of late, I have been playing Dragon's Dogma, Faster Than Light and Borderlands 2.

Tried explaining FO:E to my Grandpa today... Without giving him previous knowledge of MLP or Fallout. That was fun because I couldn't keep myself from fangasming all about it.
You schooled 'em like a bunch of frost-bitten, flat-footed, molasses-eating, lead-pants-wearing, cross-eyed glacier-trolls riding slabs of plywood with sandpaper on the bottom!!! ... And we won some shiny stuff, too.

Kingdom Hearts is definitely great, but I won't touch the portables... so until we see KH3, it's still off the radar for me.
Without knowing either, FO:E would not make a bit of sense to most people... It would probably be easier to go in with no FO knowledge than no MLP knowledge, but either way, how do you even begin?
Just picked FO3 back up after I finally started reading FO:E, so I have both going and it's kind of a mess with the two battling it out. Haven't got too far in FO:E (finished volume 1 and stopped for a little bit), so shhh... no spoilers!

I know some people that have read Fo:E and PH without having watched MLP first. Though I'm pretty sure they knew fallout.ProfessorPat wrote: Without knowing either, FO:E would not make a bit of sense to most people... At least they know the basis of what's going on then. MLP knowledge is useful for references made and expressions used, not completely necessary, but a big help in getting some of the more obscure ones.scootayay wrote:

Having played fallout and being a MLP fan though, I'm not sure what I got from past experience and what I would have known just through reading though, so maybe it is easier to understand than I thought it would be, but it seems like going in blind would be a mess.

You would be surprised, yes it helps to know both to get the many nods or subtle references but the story itself built it's universe quite well, I have showed FO:E to a lot of people, most with no experience with either universes and have went through the story no problem.ProfessorPat wrote: Without knowing either, FO:E would not make a bit of sense to most people... Re: Video game topic.
It is certainly possible to understand most of Fo:E without knowing anything about MLP or Fallout.
Prior knowledge can actually go both ways, at least in my opinion. As someone who didn't know anything about Fallout, I really enjoyed discovering the world Kkat constructed. It was an entirely new experience. As far as I know Fo:E follows some aspects of Fallout quite closely. If I had known Fallout before reading Fo:E, it wouldn't be something entirely new, only Fallout repackaged in a new form. It would be almost impossible to go into the story unbiased against certain factions.
On the other hand there are references and other things you can really only understand with a little Fallout knowledge, but Kkat's done a great job explaining everything for those who lack that knowledge. I guess it can also be entertaining when you know the original and how Kkat changed it to suit her needs.
Having no prior MLP knowledge can be a bit tricky since there are a lot of references and elements from the show you won't understand at first and there are not as many explanations given. Although you'll understand most of it in time, some things will remain hidden.
