If you've come here looking for the Fallout: Equestria books, I'm sorry, but the books were a limited run printing. Unfortunately we literally do not have any more. Similarly, we can no longer provide support for prior orders.

What about a third printing?
Sorry, we do not have plans for a third printing right now. I'm not saying one won't happen, it's just not happening right now.

I would definitely recommend checking back here every so often. If we pursue another printing, this website is where we'll post announcements. You might also want to look into changedetection.com or If This Then That which should email you when new stuff on the website pops up. Or if you're savvy you can use the site's RSS feed.

Hey again everyone, just a couple quick updates for all y'all.

It's been about 4 months since the last books were shipped out to those who preordered. At this point we no longer can provide support for those orders.


This also means we have the extremely limited number of sets from the reserve for sale

Many people lamented the death of the second printing when it fell though last year and spoke of rising up to the challenge themselves. On February 18, 2014 I joined the IRC and the team started this project with a simple spreadsheet called "To Be Done."

On March 17, 2014, we publicly announced our work on the project after almost six months of complete silence on the website. We knew there was still a long road ahead, but we made enough progress in our month of working to know for sure this second printing was going to happen.

Now, less than six months after the revival of this project, I feel it's time to call it an astonishing success. We've shipped over 2400 books to 34 different countries all around the world. What started as a small project in 2012 printing just 350 book sets, evolved into one of the largest endeavors in the fandom thanks to the direction of the new project team.
Ultimately though, this would not have been possible without the generous support of everyone who signed up. Thank you.


So what happens now?

I need to get my thermal printer fixed so the couple international orders that needed address corrections and any future orders can be shipped out.

We'll start sending out invoices to people who signed up on the waitlist. Each set will be $80, plus shipping and the payment processor's fee.

Eventually I'll update the FAQ to the correct tenses and amend some small stuff.


What about a third printing?

Right now there realistically is not enough interest for a reprint of Fallout: Equestria to be feasible. If you missed out, I am truly sorry. We did what we could to reach a wide audience, but unfortunately it's impossible to reach everyone.

What about Project Horizons, Pink Eyes, et cetera?

As the school year starts up again for many members of the project team, it becomes increasingly difficult to find the time necessary to run a project of this scale. Ultimately until there is a public announcement, I'm not going to speculate on future printings.

We always post here when major events take place. So I would still recommend regularly checking back. If you're savvy, the RSS feed will be the easiest way to stay up to date.

In case you haven't been following the BronyCon 2014 Meetup Thread, We have a good amount of people on the forums who want to meet up. So if you're going to bronycon:

I will also have sets of FoE for private sale at Bronycon.

Each set will be $80 USDCash Only. There is a very limited number available, and they are non-reservable.

To elaborate on private sale, I am not a vendor and cannot sell on the Baltimore Convention Center grounds. Any transaction will have to take place somewhere else (such as the Hilton, or Five Guys).


Edit: Because I will be at Bronycon, any pending shipments (you know who you are), will not be sent out until I return.

Edit 2: Bronycon was awesome! If you've never been to a con before, I would highly recommend it. I need to go through the backlog of emails and whatnot and should have most outstanding things taken care by Thursday the 7th.

Here's what's going on with everything.
Long story short, we ended up processing the international orders ourselves. So DDBProductions and I met up and got those all taken care of. We have a scheduled USPS pickup today (July 28th). Allegedly they'll try to pick them up on their normal route, but it's literally over a half-ton of books. I spoke with USPS on Saturday, and they said we'd be fine and they'll figure it out. So :pipshrug:

I will probably send out a mass email to all the international people once USPS actually picks them up.

Edit 2014-07-28T14:45-0400: USPS came by and picked them all up. So everything is en route. And I'll send out those emails tonight.


Sorry about the slow response time to emails and whatnot. I've been a bit focused on taking care of the international orders. I'm pretty sure we're all caught up now though.

Regarding Canadian orders: I'm waiting on a response from our distributor about those. I really would've expected tracking to work since it's been 7 days since they shipped. But I'm honestly not sure what's going on.

The US and Canadian orders have been shipped out as of Monday! WOO!! :pinkiebounce:

I sent a mass email to everyone in the US and Canada with your tracking numbers.

If you're Canadian, I'm told your tracking number won't show anything until your books actually reach Canada and are handled by Canada Post. So don't worry that it says your number isn't in their system.

For all the international orders, we should be able to have them out before the end of July, but I'm still not comfortable pinpointing a exact date right now. We're working on it though :twilightsmile:

Edit:
If your address in the first email is wrong, check the second email.
If the address in the second email is wrong, check the first email.


For people with multiple address lines, the second email should display it correctly.
For people with one address line, the address in the second email has a random line with an apostrophe in in since I forced it to show the fields. Don't worry about it, that's not actually on your box. Like I said, the first email should show it correctly.

Also somewhere along the line I accidentally dropped the leading zeros from zip codes that had them. That just affects the email system, not what's on your box. All US orders have the full 9 digit zip codes in the master list.

Hey everyone!
Unfortunately me being on vacation caused some of the business side of things to move slower than they should've. Plus I think our timeline is quicker than our distributor expected, which I think caught them off guard.

What's that mean for you? Not too much. We're just looking at a Friday ship date instead of Wednesday. Sorry about the delay. We're doing what we can to make sure our distributor can start shipping books as soon as possible. If I get new information, I'll let you know.

Also, Washington DC was fantastic. If you've never been there, I would highly recommend it. I'm back home for the night and will be heading to Northern Michigan / Mackinaw for the next couple days. So again, my responses may be a bit slower than usual.

Good news! The books are all printed and were shipped to our distributor in Chicago. They will start processing and shipping the books mid next week. So all US orders should be shipped out by the 16th. International orders will be processed as a separate batch. I don't have a solid timeline on those, but the plan is to have them shipped out around the 23rd.

Now since I'm sure you're all curious about how they look, I swung through Chicago on Thursday the 3rd and brought some back with me. Check 'em out.

What's this!? Dust Jackets? We figured you would all like dust jackets included, and thankfully it worked out. Be sure to thank WhatPayne & Dragmaister for their hard work getting the dust jackets done in the nick of time. Just a quick update: there's nothing to update :derpytongue2:

The books are still being printed. Right now we're just taking solace in the lull before things pick up again as we get closer to shipping the books.

Regarding the timeline, nothing new has come up, so we still should be on track for shipping the books out around mid-July.

As for myself, I will be at TrotCon in Columbus Ohio this Thursday through Monday. In all likelihood I'll won't be able to respond to anything until late Monday, but there's not too much going on right now anyway. :pipshrug:

Edit: As of July 3, 2014 1300 GMT-0400 no new address change requests can be made. If you need to, talk to your post office about having your mail forwarded. That's what they're there for.

We still have unsold sets, even after sending emails to everyone on the waitlist, so if you or anyone you know would still like a set, sign up on the waitlist. The next 50 people who sign up on the waitlist will receive an invoice within 24 hours of signing up.
Because people on the waitlist have a week to pay, we will likely still be collecting payments through next week, and we may still have unsold sets if anyone on the waitlist doesn't pay. But we'll get to that when we need to.


Until then, Good News! Thanks to everyone (for the most part) paying on time, we have reached a point where we feel we can safely cover the expenses of this project. What's that mean for you? Books! Our printer has started production on the books, and we still are mostly on track for our original timeline. Unless something comes up, we should be shipping out books early to mid July. Obviously if that changes, we will let you know, but we're past one of the biggest hurdles.


Edit: We will not be accepting any payments past June 8th. For anyone who signs up on the waitlist, your invoice due date will be the 8th. If/when we fill all the open seats, or after the 8th (whichever comes first), the waitlist will turn back into the waitlist, and you will only be emailed if we have extra sets at the end of this project.

This is going to be a long one though, so you might want to get a sandwich, a soda, and your favorite brushable pony.

We'll be sending out invoices very soon! We'll also send out an email before the invoices that mainly just goes over what's here again for everyone that doesn't regularly check here.
Edit: We sent out invoices to everyone early in the morning May 17th (EDT, GMT-0400). Shortly before invoices were processed, you should've received an info email.
Edit 2: As of like the 19th, all invoices have been sent out. If you didn't get your, just shoot us an email at FOEPrintProject@gmail.com and we'll figure out what's up.
Edit 3: hotmail/live/outlook/whatever is a bit overzealous with the spam filtering. If you still don't have your invoice, check your spam folder before emailing us.
Edit 4: Around midnight on May 21st (EDT, GMT-0400), we sent out a reminder email to the ~200 people who still have not paid. :ajbemused:
Edit 5: I really should just make a new post. On May 26th, between 1200 and 1700 (EDT, GMT-0400), all 127 past-due invoices were deleted. If you click your invoice and get a 404 page, it's because you missed the deadline. Sorry.


All prices are in USD.
The books are $44.99 per set.
For one set, shipping will be:
US: $7.43 (Shipping for 2 sets is $9.76)
Canada: $36.73

Everywhere else: On average, it's about $52, but we'll be changing shipping based on your specific country. I'm not going to list them all here, but here's the top 3:
UK: $55.26
Australia: $55.77
Germany: $45.43

Plus there's our payment processor's fee, which is 3% on top of the subtotal. (Michigan residents: Congratulations! it's 9% because of sales tax.)

Total cost for US will be $53.99
Canada $84.17
International should be around $100.

The rest of this is just to clarify a couple of things about how everything is going to go down from here. Especially with one of the main questions we keep getting about this, so let's start clearing everything up, shall we?

When are the books going to be shipped to you?

That, my friend, depends entirely on you and your fellow signers and how fast we're able to get all the payments in. Simply put, we do not have the books on hand to be able to ship them out as soon as we get the costs covered to make and ship them. We're not Discord. We can't just snap our clawed fingers and magically have a brand new copy of Fallout Equestria ready and waiting for you.

It would be nice if we could do that. It would also be nice to make it rain chocolate, but the real world doesn't work like that.

The printing itself is going to take 5 to 6 weeks. Please note that this is not after the initial quote is given, and we send the printer the final files. Life, unfortunately, does not work like that.

Printing of the books will start only after the printer has received the cleared payment.

Those two points cannot be stressed enough. Printing the books will take 5 to 6 weeks and will only start after the printer has received the cleared payment.

So, when are the books going to be shipped to you? The books will be shipped out to everyone who has signed approximately 7 to 8 weeks after all payments have been collected from every signer.

That is of course, assuming that nothing goes wrong during that time frame. If something does, you will be notified immediately that the schedule has been changed.

How soon will the printer get the payment?

The short answer: as soon as possible.

The long answer: that depends on how fast we receive all the payments. Ideally, we would love to send in the payment no more than one week after sending out all the invoices. Will that work? Discord only knows, but I would like to think so.

When are the payment due?

Realistically, we would like to have payment due upon receipt of the invoice. However, we know that isn't going to happen for everyone. Unexpected expenses come up; payday isn't until next week; etc. We understand that money is trouble. However, we also need you signers to understand that the speed at which this project moves is based entirely on how quickly we get the total payment amount in.

So this is how it is going to work.

For those signers on the main list, payment is due May 25th.

If after the 25th payment has not been received, your invoice will be canceled, you will be removed from the main list, and your spot will be filled by the next person in line on the waitlist.

For those signers who get moved from the waitlist to the main list after the initial invoices go out, payment is due one week after the send date of the invoice.

Again, if payment hasn't been received after the week has passed, your invoice will be canceled and you will be removed from the list.

As to what would happen at that point? We would keep going through the waitlist until all orders had been filled and paid for. If we somehow go through the entire waitlist and still haven't filled the entire order, we have a contingency for that.

What is the contingency plan if the order is not filled?

That will be revealed if, and if only if, there becomes a need for it.

How will I know that my order is ready to ship?

Thankfully, our distributor makes this incredibly easy. You will receive an e-mail notification from them with your tracking number when your books are shipped.
If you live in the US, you will receive a USPS tracking number. Outside of the US, unfortunately, it will not be possible. International tracking hasn't been set up to be feasible, but we'll make sure you know when your order has been shipped.

I've moved or am in the process of moving, or will expect to have moved by the time comes for shipping. Are you guys going to be able handle a change in address?

The answer to this question is yes. However, we must be informed about the address change ASAP otherwise your books will be sent to the address we have listed in our database.
We are not mindreaders, nor are we clairvoyant. If you move, you have to give us a heads up, otherwise your book will be sent to your previous address. If you're unsure what address you gave, it will be listed on your invoice.

Since all y'all have to wait for a little bit longer than expected, I figured you may as well have something to read. So, here's what's going on.

Just to be clear, we're going to send out invoices as soon as we can, but we are still waiting on the shipping quotes to come in. An update will be posted here, and an email will be sent out before we do. So if you're unsure, just check the homepage first to see if there's any new news.

Now for the details:

We will be using a distributor to take care of the shipping and handling. This does increase the cost of the books a little bit above our initial estimate, but trust me, it's worth it. They'll be able to process and have the books shipped out far quicker than we ever could doing it ourselves. Plus they're working on gettings us specific quotes for the shipping prices for everyone. So instead of shipping prices being based off the weighted average of different countries, or instead of paying a premium for flat rate shipping, everyone will be charged only what's needed.

I emailed them yesterday and received a call shortly before 1700. They're going to take till around EOB Friday to finalize our quote. It sounds like they're doing a good job and are working to bring our costs down, that just takes time. So things have been pushed back a little bit until they get us the quote, but overall it's not a huge delay and it should keep the cost down for everyone, especially for all the international fans.

The main thing is everyone needs to pay when we do send out invoices. The printer can't get started until everyone pays. So if we have a bunch of people who wait till the last day of payments, the whole project is going to be delayed further.

We had a stupid major failure when this site, and the main FoE one, were migrated to a new server. They assured me it would be seemless, they did not tell me we would lose nearly a week of content in the process due to a poor decision on their part :twilightangry2: They had moved the database 5 days before the rest of the site... :flutterrage:

I have managed to recover the last backup, made around midnight last night, and restored it. Any posts made after that point are most likely lost... sorry :fluttercry:

Now, to start getting the main site working... with its 50+ times more content... :applejackunsure:
Hey Everyone,
We have most of what we need, we're just waiting for one more quote to come in before we can finalize everything. We'll have a bunch of more info to post later, but just so you know it looks like we'll be pretty doggone close to our estimate.

Other than that, the printer has the finalized files, but work won't progress until they get paid. So, the sooner everyone pays, the sooner we can get started. Right now I'm hoping we can send out invoices on Wednesday, but we are waiting on that one more quote, and the timeline on that is outside our control. :pipshrug: If I don't hear back from them on Monday, I'll have to go all flutterrage on them :flutterrage:


Chapter artwork will not be included. We simply did not have the time to integrate them into the text. Considering it's only been 80 days since we started, we're accomplished a lot with an extremely tight schedule.

Just so you all would have an idea of what the inside of the books will look like, I went ahead and pulled some sample pages out of the finalized version. Check it out here.


To anyone who put down special instructions in the signup form that warrant a response, I'm planning on going through those this weekend. To answer a common request: we can't physically sign your books. We're split across 3 different continents, so that would be a bit difficult to do. Nor can we get Kkat to sign books for you.

Now that signups are closed, we're going to get the quotes we need and finish crunching numbers. We hope to get that done as soon as possible, but it is dependent on other companies. So if we can get what we need from the printer by Friday, we'll stick with our original plan. If not, we'll just send out invoices as soon as we can.

There will be another post when we start sending out invoices that will have more detailed information regarding the final pricing, shipping, and et cetera.

Signups are open :pinkiehappy: , but please read this whole post before going to the form.

Just so you have an understanding of our timeline, here's what's going to happen. Signups will be open until May 4th. After that, well start taking payments hopefully around May 9th. We have files we could send to the printer, but we're going to take the rest of April to go through the books and clean up small stuff like the widows and orphans and whatnot.
My winter semester is nearing an end, and I have have finals coming up rather soon, so in the event I need more time to finish the formatting, or we need more time to set up the payment processing, or whatever, we'll just leave signups and/or payments open for a little longer.


As with the previous printing, by signing up, you agree to pay for the books when we start collecting payments. Just to make things run smoothly, we would really like everyone to pay via credit card, however, we understand not everyone has a credit card. So there is an “other” option on the signup sheet. If you select the other option, but do not email FOEPrintProject@gmail.com regarding your situation, you will be dropped from the list. Although we want as many people to be able to get the books, we can't spend the time catering to everyone's individual situation. I know in the US you can purchase Visa gift cards that act as a credit card. That would be the easiest way to pay if you don't have a credit card. Just a reminder, as long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it, even if it's a debit card, you should be fine.

Just so you know, we will not be using PayPal, we are developing a custom solution to accept payments.



As for the actual books, if you haven't been following the threads, I'll just give a quick breakdown. We have completely reformatted Fallout Equestria into two books, which brings the cost down nicely compared to the original printing. Right now, we are not including chapter artwork, however, we do have an artist working on new chapter art. Depending on how much time we have and whatnot, there is a chance we will include it, but for the sake of ordering, don't count on it.

As for the cost, our estimates are based off of around 800 people signing up, which should be reasonable, but do note, the cost will change depending on how many people sign up.

The books will be about $40
Shipping Estimates:
For US: ~$10, so the total will be ~$50
Canada: ~$40, so the total will be ~$80
International: ~$55, so the total will be ~$95

EDIT 2: April 14th between around 1520 and 1540 GMT-0400 our spreadsheet containing the responses became unavailable. After regaining access, we noticed there were no signups listed during that time period. Although it is not unusual to have a 20 minute gap between signups, it does cause some concern that if you signed up during those 20 minutes, it may not have been recorded. If you are unsure and would like confirmation, please please post over in the signup confirmations thread. Thank you.

Anyway, pretty much everything I said in the other post is true.
We are done with the major formatting of the text. Right now, we're working on the non-story stuff like the table of contents, copyright page, and et cetera. We are also hard at work redesigning the chapter break art, and figuring out how best to mark the volume numbers on the spine of the books.

We will not have a concrete date on when signups will open until we can get accurate quotes from the printer, which means we need to finish the formatting before signups can open. I don't think it would be fair to you guys to open signups before all that is nailed down.

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to post a status update on the project so everyone knows about the progress we've made so far.

To begin with, we are done with the major formatting for both Book One and Two. We still need to add the section break images and memory orb images in Book Two and make sure everything looks good, but we are currently redesigning the section break image (again), so I'm holding off inserting them until we finalize the design. We also still have to layout the table of contents, the title page, the copyright page, basically all the stuff that isn't the actual story. But to reiterate, the major formatting is done, the rest of it will take time, but we're making good progress.

As far as signups, we do not have a concrete date on when those will open. We're still working with a couple companies to work out the logistics of everything. Although we could open up signups today, I don't think it's fair to you guys to do that until we have all our ducks in a row.



And just one more thing since you guys are all awesome, I'm going to go ahead and release the PDF of Book One. But, we need your help. We need you to look for any odd formatting goofs. We worked hard making sure we didn't miss anything, but it never hurts to have an extra set of eyes looking it over. Just sound off in the forums what chapters you looked over and just go through and make sure there are no inconsistencies. If you spot something, just note the page and line number and let us know what we missed. We aren't looking to change our formatting decisions at this point, we just want to make sure everything is consistant and looks good.

Hello everyone!

Since the other post is 14 pages long, and the information is a bit hard to find, I figured I would make another post that makes it easier to understand what is going on.

Myself, mrc0mmand, DDBProductions, yetanothername, and callumgare are working on the second printing. We started in early February, and we have been making good progress, so I feel safe when I say we are doing a second printing!


To answer a few quick questions:
How do I buy the book?
Right now, you can't. That's what we're working on. You can always print your own though if you want.

We don't have signups open right now, and it's too early to say for sure when they will be open. We want to open them as soon as we can, but we have work to do on our end before we can nail down a date. More on that in a bit.
I would recommend subscribing to the RSS feed, to get notifications when new stuff is posted.


Now on to the second printing details:

The first printing was a 5 book set, one volume per book, and cost around $86 for people in the US. We want to get the cost down so more people can afford the books, since that seems to be a deal breaker for a lot of people. So, we are completely reformatting FO:E and will be printing two books instead of five. The first book will have volumes one two and three, and the second book will have volumes four and five. The reformatting will also reduce the page count, which combine with only printing two books, should lower the cost. Shipping will be marginally cheaper just because the books should be lighter and take up less spaaace, but if you are outside the US, plan on the shipping being expensive regardless.

Right now, I am working on the formatting and am making good progress, but it's a long road, and it takes time. Formatting is really what will determine when signups are open, since I don't want to start taking names until I know I have files I can send to the printer.

Myself and the others working on the project are usually on IRC on canternet at #FalloutEquestriaBook. If you don't have a client, you can join using the mibbit web client.

Just a note, if you do stop by, we aren't all staring at the chat, and we're in different timezones. So don't be deterred if no one respond immediately, just wait a bit.


Other that that, if you have any questions, feel free to post them here. I also can be reached on IRC as zemming. Anyone voiced and above (they have a +, %, @, or ~ in front of their name) is working on the project and should be able to answer questions. If you need to PM someone, please ask before hand. P.S. Arcane_Scroll wanted me to mention that he is not involved in the printing. Please don't spam his email asking questions he won't be able to answer.


EDIT: added callumgare to the list of people actively working on the project.
It seems with my announcement and the following sorrow has woken up the other admins despite my reassurance of proof that this project was dead. I slapped Death in the face? Turned into a ghoul? no clue but we are back on. It won't be sudden as ourselves need to go into major overhaul so this doesn't happen again but I can share some info.

-All refunds have been completed, I have seen the account myself.
-Wepay(or whatever it is called) account will be coming within the week.
-Weekly Meetings/Announcement of where we are at so we do not dissapper again.

So on my part, I apologize for the doom and gloom story yesterday, though not quite sure if it was a bad thing cause fires were lit and plots were burnt. I don't like smiles but this somes up the situation.
