Third Printing?
Re: Third Printing?
Kkat didn't want the story to be edited because she figured an author could spend their entire life trying to make a work perfect and never achieve it. Also she didn't want people hunting for the most up-to-date version of the story.

Re: Third Printing?
I'm wondering how many interested parties are needed for a print to make it worthwhile.
Entropy . . . entropy always changes
Re: Third Printing?
Around 500? If I remember it right.SpectrumScholar wrote:I'm wondering how many interested parties are needed for a print to make it worthwhile.

IIRC the first printing had 250-300 people.rainwell wrote:Around 500? If I remember it right.SpectrumScholar wrote:I'm wondering how many interested parties are needed for a print to make it worthwhile.
Re: Third Printing?
Correct, but we like to work with bigger numbers than that. it helps keep the cost down for everyone. rainwell is right though, our minimum is usually about 500.scootayay wrote:IIRC the first printing had 250-300 people.rainwell wrote:Around 500? Re: Third Printing?
Just wanted to say that I am also 100% in on a third printing. I loved reading the story and want to read it again while in my hands. I lost an eBay bid for a 2nd edition copy in which I went up to $450. So I'm willing to buy a few extra copies if we need to fill a quota. A near minimum wage guy living on his own but it'd be worth the struggle to earn the money for this masterpiece of story telling
Re: Third Printing?
Just want to say that I personally know half a dozen people who would buy a third printing, none of whom are registered on this forum. I really do hope a third printing is planned at some point: the second printing was 2 years ago at this point and a lot of people hadn't read it back then. I understand it's a big undertaking though, and I'm guessing Project Horizons is a higher priority.
Re: Third Printing?
I'd gladly buy a third printing, and I've been in the fandom 1 year almost exactly, so I'd fit into that group. I'd also buy PH, when it's done. I'm currently having a local place print me hardcovers 1st edition style, running me a small fortune. If anyone knows where I could get the source files for the black and silver embossing from the 1st edition, let me know!
Re: Third Printing?
Holy cow! I've looked into getting the 5-book hardcover set custom printed before, but it looked like it was going to run me almost $1,000! I did end up getting a softcover set, which only ran about $60 (since they have machines that can do softcover prints automatically, making custom prints super cheap). If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for your hardcover set?the_Doc wrote:I'd gladly buy a third printing, and I've been in the fandom 1 year almost exactly, so I'd fit into that group. I don't know yet, I'm still actually working on getting a quote. They speculated 85 ish for the binding alone, per book. So I'm not sure. I'm doing it at a local place.
