Actually, formatting a book is pretty fast. Use OpenOffice, create templates for chapter page, TOC, etc, assign blocks of text to templates, done. Going through and manually formatting each page is a nightmare, especially if you decide to reformat it later.Eventorizon wrote:I have an alternative idea to a 'full on' third printing which might actually be easier.
I recently found a set of Compact Discworld novels in an second hand book shop; here is a picture from amazon to give you an idea -
Each book measure around 3.5in or 90mm square. Between the four book in the set they basically make a cube.
Given the 5 books in FO:E I am sure the same trick could be pulled, even if they ended up a fraction larger - say 4in square.
In my head I have labelled it Fallout: Equestria - The Little Pip Edition.
The downside to this is that the entire series would have to be reformatted accordingly, which is a lot of work. I have attempted to do a personal print of my own FO:E story, Ouroborous, and the time it took to set it all out was... well lets say at least a week for just 160'000 words.
However this method should be a: cheaper to print, b: cheaper to ship, and c: could be sent inside a miniature memory orb! (I love the idea of having a 3D printed orb that you keep them safe in, and for other reasons which I wont say cos spoilers.)
Well, that's my speech, now what is your response?

I was using Indesign... that might be why.

Thanks for the ideas, we'll definitely keep it in mind as we look towards the future of the project.Eventorizon wrote:I have an alternative idea to a 'full on' third printing which might actually be easier.

We use InDesign. Formatting definitely isn't the slowest step in the project, but it isn't the fastest. I'm a bit anal about the details, so even with templates it takes a bit.Arcane_Scroll wrote:Actually, formatting a book is pretty fast. Re: Third Printing?
A Third printing would be cool. I got in on the second round of F.o.e. prints and the first runs of Pink eyes and I've had several friends that have said that they would love hard bounds of those stories as well. I hope they are able to have that wish fulfilled some day.
Re: Third Printing?
So I would totally be cool with a third printing of Fallout: Equestria. I was stupid enough not to buy it the second time around, mostly because I didn't really notice that it was getting printed. Anyways, I would be down with a third print. I understand Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons should be printed next, seeing as it has just been completed, and I will definitely get myself a copy of it. Time isn't really an issue for me; I can wait as long as it takes (Within reason, I don't really expect to be here for 100 years) for interest in reprinting FOE to grow. Also I would be interested in a second printing of Pink Eyes too. Anyways I just wanted to put this out there, that another person is interested in obtaining a copy of these amazing fan-fictions.
P.S. I was also wondering why nobody has really suggested just using the template from the last printing so you/they can send it to print without putting in hours of reformatting (I understand that their still needs to be interest to send them off to print).

Didn't think of that. Hopefully with the end of Project Horizons, there will be more call for a third printing of the first book.Spydude wrote:

Re: Third Printing?
So with the release of fallout 4, there may now be new interest for a third printing.
Any thoughts on this?
Or would it be at all possible to have a release of the second printing book file for our own printing (with permission from the author and editor)?

Re: Third Printing?
I am in agreement with spectrum, the release of fallout 4 will undoubtedly boost interest in a third printing.
Re: Third Printing?
I would also like to express interest in a third printing, really regretting that I missed the first two, and would love the opportunity to get my hands on a copy.

I'll ask in the Skype group I am in. I know load of people who wanted in on the 2nd printing and didn't have the money at the time. I'm certainly up for it!
