Just a Quick Update

Post by zemming » Fri May 09, 2014 7:37 pm

Hey Everyone,
We have most of what we need, we're just waiting for one more quote to come in before we can finalize everything. We'll have a bunch of more info to post later, but just so you know it looks like we'll be pretty doggone close to our estimate.

Other than that, the printer has the finalized files, but work won't progress until they get paid. So, the sooner everyone pays, the sooner we can get started. Right now I'm hoping we can send out invoices on Wednesday, but we are waiting on that one more quote, and the timeline on that is outside our control. :pipshrug: If I don't hear back from them on Monday, I'll have to go all flutterrage on them :flutterrage:

Chapter artwork will not be included. We simply did not have the time to integrate them into the text. Considering it's only been 80 days since we started, we're accomplished a lot with an extremely tight schedule.

Just so you all would have an idea of what the inside of the books will look like, I went ahead and pulled some sample pages out of the finalized version. Check it out here.

To anyone who put down special instructions in the signup form that warrant a response, I'm planning on going through those this weekend. To answer a common request: we can't physically sign your books. We're split across 3 different continents, so that would be a bit difficult to do. Nor can we get Kkat to sign books for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, the IRC channel, or email FOEPrintProject@gmail.com. My personal email is zemming@zemming.org if you need to get in contact with me specifically.

Edit: Again because I keep forgetting to post it:

If you missed signups, please put your name on the waitlist http://goo.gl/HM6Hjn

There's a good chance some people will drop from the signup list or won't pay. So if we have open spots, we'll give people on the waitlist an opportunity to purchase the books.

Edit: made the waitlist line smaller so it doesn't spam the homepage.

I honestly wouldn't mind waiting longer if it means getting chapter artwork but I understand some people disagree with that and the printing company probably does too

Will you be sending invoices out by e-mail?

Yes. The plan as it stands is to send out an information email with all the details first, then send out invoices shortly thereafter.
We'll also put a new post up here when we do.

helloo,

I just wanted to know if there was any chance some of us who missed some deadlines could still sneak into line for a copy? Money is no object.

Hello, you can still try our waiting list. If we have any sets left after payments, people on the waiting list will have an opportunity to buy them.
If you have any question or problem feel free to visit our IRC channel or just send us an e-mail to FOEPrintProject@gmail.com!

Honestly, I don't think anyone here would have had any qualms with a delay in order to get chapter artwork in the books.

What was the big hurry, anyways? :unsuresweetie:

I personally wish they'd do another printing like the first. It was a much more complete and quality collection. Five books instead of three, with artwork for each chapter.

I don't care. I'll buy whatever they make. I don't necessarily need illustrations in my dark book full of violence, death, sex, and violence.

Put simply, most all of the people working on the project will not be able to commit the amount of time required for a project of this scale if it is push back any later in the year.

I'm sorry you feel that our work is incomplete and not a quality set. We invested a lot of time and effort to make the books the best we can.
To clarify, we are printing a Two Book set, not three.
If you would like more information regarding the second printing of Fallout Equestria, please read through our posts on the homepage which provide some more detail on the project.
Also feel free to check out a sample of the final formatting to get a better idea of what the inside of the books will look like.
