FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
I have to agree tho that the price bump is a bit extreme, especialy if the books were already ordered for the 35€ price tag.
I get that there must be some kind of advantages for early backers (even if getting the book early and guaranteed should already be huge, some people simply forgot to check the site at the registration time, others werent able to at the time) ; but that's a lot of money ; 35->50 would already be a nice profit, 35->80 is gonna make a lot of people simply turn around and forget about the book. That's more than double the original price, and some people have to pay for the big shipping price outside of NA already.
I'll definitely buy mine, but that's kind of a heartbreak aswell. Also no mother/father's day present I fear, but I rather buy the book while it's $115 than seing it on ebay with another '0' to it.

Will an update be put up on the website when the over invoices are sent out?

Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
I think they'll probably just edit the current update at that point rather than an entire new one.
Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
I don't think that it was stated that they were getting extra books originally. It seemed the reserve list was supposed to be for those in the first wave who didn't pay their invoices and lost their spot. In the latest update they did mention they got extra books, and it made sense for them to. It's a smart plan knowing how popular the story is. What they didn't mention is that there would be an increase in price.
I'll have to see if I can afford to spend the difference but if I can't I'll give up my spot to another waiting individual.

Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
Keeping my eye out in hopes I get a chance at the reserve list! I already have a book, but I would love to get one and have it signed by KKat and donate it to the charity auction at Bronycon this August.
After seeing just how beautiful this 3rd printing is, I really feel like it is something special and would be the perfect platform for giving back to the community and its efforts to help others.

Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
I got an invoice this time (as in, it didn't skip my inbox). I'm a bit sore about the price bump though. This isn't a kickstarter, where the overall goal is to make a profitable product (and have a chance of failure, hence rewarding early backers). I was under the impression that Bethesda and Hasbro would turn a blind eye to this as long as money wasn't made. Isn't bumping the price counterproductive to that end?
I know there were others that missed the deadline, but were resent an invoice. I opted to follow the rules and went on the reserve list, expecting a similar price, not a 50% markup. I'm a bit torn here.
I'm also unsure if this applies to this case, but when Past Sins was printed, they were given 10% more then what they ordered at no cost. Printers do this, expecting a few flawed copies to slip in with an order, so they compensate the customer in advance. The printer I work for does this on some orders, but it depends on the size. I may not be the case here.
In the end though, supply and demand rules I guess. Limited supply+Large demand=$.

Re: FoE 3rd Printing - Reserve List
I certainly understand there's some frustration about the pricing of the reserve list, and I would like to apologize to everyone who signed up on the reserve list with the expectation that the pricing would stay the same. I should have been more clear up front in the FAQ instead of just saying "the reserve list pricing will be determined later."
So, why do the reserve books cost as much as they did for the 2nd printing?
Quite frankly we did not expect this printing to be so popular. While yes we did order some extra books beyond the usual safety net, we very much do not have enough for everyone on the reserve list. This first batch of invoices doesn't even cover half of it.
There also are some additional expenses associated with the reserve list, including that I will be taking time off my internship to fly halfway across the country in order to pack and ship out the books. There are also some outstanding expenses that still need to be covered such as repairing my parent's garage after it was damaged during the main batch pack out.
Finally, yes we very much are gearing up for a printing of Project Horizons; having the extra budget allows us the latitude to run the the business side of things between printings, such as covering any upfront costs.
So why not just do another printing?
While the reserve list is big, it's not large enough to justify another batch from the manufacture. Even if it were, the pricing would be similar to the reserve list due to the the increased logistics and not receiving a bulk discount.
Ultimately we have done the absolute most we could for Fallout: Equestria with this edition. I'm not saying this is the final printing of Fallout: Equestria, but I feel it's time to give some of the other popular FoE stories the attention they deserve.
If you received an invoice or signed up on the reserve list and do not want a copy, please let us know so we can give your spot to someone else on the list.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we can be reach at FoEPrintProject@gmail.com. If necessary, I can personally be reached at zemming@zemming.org
Best,
zemming

I just paid the invoice... I can't believe that I got the chance to get a copy of this amazing book!! Also, being the first and only one from my country to order this, I'm soooo freaking happy, I can barely control myself
Thank you guys for giving us the chance to support this project, I'll probably support you in future when it comes to another print from another FoE story, I haven't read Project Horizons so that would be a good idea, I think xD

Sign me up for 3 copies lol. Seriously though, If FoE:PH goes into print, I'm a solid buyer for that. FoE brought me into the fandom, but FoE:PH changed my life for the better. Not to mention having a copy of Murky Number Seven at some point would be legit! I would have my 3 favorite fanfics of all time in print! Then one day, when I'm dead, My kids and grand kids will find them and think "Wow, Grand dad was freaking weird!" and given my love for leaving people with a sense of "huh...", that's a great thing. Maybe they will even read them and come to know the full depth of my strange to them addiction, maybe they will burn them. Who knows! Either way, more books, more happy!
