Shipping update
Shipping update
Alright folks, get ready because it's UPDATE TIME!!!!!!
As of today, all but a select few of the sets have been mailed out. That means that in just under a week, everyone should have their set. The few of you that are the exception should be receiving an email from me in the next couple of days explaining what the delay is and it should be worked out relatively soon. On a more general note, almost $2000 was left over from shipping due to overestimated shipping costs and a $5 print cost reduction between the price freezing and the actual number of sets that were ordered. As stated towards the beginning of the project, everything that was leftover is going to go to a charity of the groups choosing. However, I want to hold on to the money for the next few weeks to make sure that if any problems arise from shipping errors we will have the funding to handle them. Start discussing the charity you want it to go to in the comments below. Also, if it's ok with everyone I would like to reimburse myself for the font I bought way back during formatting for the book. I didn't think back then that I was going to get paid back and I was fine with it but it was a big hit on my finances and getting that back would really help me out financially. At any rate, let me know what you guys think in the comments.
Thanks,
Alex Petzen

Re: Shipping update
Thats fine with me. I think its fine to reimburse yourself for that, no worries man.
Charity sounds good, or, you could put that cash towards discounting the Pink Eyes Printing. Either one.

Re: Shipping update
Glad to here everything's working itself out, and I don't think anyone here would have a problem with you keeping a bit for any out of pocket costs you had to pay, because ultimately the money you spent went into the books, so there's really no profit being had from it. As for the Charity we should send the remaining money to... Make a Wish is always a good one.

Sure, go ahead and take the money you spent on the font. You shouldn't have to pay that out of your own pocket, it's part of the printing cost and what everyone paid for.
[strike]No idea which charity to support. I'm sure others have better ideas.[/strike]
Edit: The EFF comes to mind, that would be a possibility.

That is sadly not an option, even if all the people here supported that, it was promised at the beginning of the printing that the money will go to charity. If you changed that now you could quickly find yourself in legal hell.Jaketehsnake wrote:Thats fine with me. I think its fine to reimburse yourself for that, no worries man.

Re: Shipping update
Now that you're done with the first printing, does that mean that the sign ups for the second one are going to start in the next couple of days?
Re: Shipping update
More like a couple of weeks. I want to wait until we've handled all of the shipping errors and the charity. That and we need to time this so that the books will arrive approximately when I am on break so I can actually deal with processing them.
Re: Shipping update
I say go ahead and reimburse yourself. As for charity, you can't go wrong with any of them. My favorite two would probably be, Saint Jude and Make a Wish.
Re: Shipping update
I suggest either dust jackets, pink eyes printing for lower prices or a foundation made by other Bronies.

Re: Shipping update
What about something related to the story itself? Like an organization that helps people trying to overcome drug addiction? Or even NACoA (a charity for children of alcoholics)? Just throwing out ideas here.
Re: Shipping update
As said before, using the money for dust jackets, cheaper prints or anything else that isn't a charity sadly isn't possibleAbleDelta wrote:I suggest either dust jackets, pink eyes printing for lower prices or a foundation made by other Bronies.
