They were talking about WePay. I've never heard of it, but I think it's a website like paypal. I visited it and it was a little confusing. But I'm sure it's nothing a few minutes of clicking around can't figure out.Jusey1 wrote:And I'm still curious of how to make the payment? I mean, ya did mentioned something earlier but I have no idea what it is...

Re: WE'RE BACK! -- Under New Management!
I'm not zemming but I have been helping out on the project a little bit recently.
That was my fallout equestrian experience too. Unfortunately I listened to the Scorch238 narration and that stalled at around chapter 25. I couldn't bring myself to listen to any of the other recordings since Scorch is such an indelible part of the audiobook experience for me. That's why I'm looking forward to book. I'll be able to read it comfortably.
Well I imagine the amount of combined effort put into a second print would be, or at least is nearing a hundred of hours +. Therefore we damn well hope nothing stops us printing a second run. So far so good.Worldenterer wrote:Is it a definite that there will be a second printing?

Listening to the Fallout: Equestria audio book on YouTube was one of the greatest times I've ever had. I really look forward to getting the printed version. Thank you all so much.

Payment is still one of those things being nutted out. It one of the things that could cause the biggest problem if it goes wrong. At the moment it looks like WePay doesn't fit the bill (pun intended).Jusey1 wrote:And I'm still curious of how to make the payment?
Re: WE'RE BACK! -- Under New Management!
Callumgare summed it up pretty well. With all the work we've been putting in, there will be a second printing.Worldenterer wrote:A few quick questions for you, Zemming...
There will be a new post for when signups open. If you want up to date notifications of new posts on the forum, I'd recommend subscribing to the RSS feed. There are plans in the work to notify everyone who signed up in the past, but getting the information needed to do that is outside my control.Worldenterer wrote: How will you notify people of the time when they can begin signing up and making purchases?
As callumgare said we're still researching different payment processors to find one that best suits our needs. After talking with WePay about our project needs, we decided that we will not be using them.Jusey1 wrote:And I'm still curious of how to make the payment? Basically, regardless of who we use to process payments, we will be accepting all major credit cards (if your Key Bank debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, that counts). Beyond that, I can't guarantee anything yet. We will publish more details when we open signups and have that all figured out.
As far as actually making the payment, after signups, we will send out an invoice through email. From there, you would just have to click pay or whatever it says, and enter your credit card info. We're working on making that process as straightforward as possible.
Also, the main post has been edited to include callumgare on the list of those actively working on the project.

My sample formatting does not include chapter art, because I personally am not a fan of it, and we needed to get started on formatting. I am not alone with my stance on chapter art. There has been discussion in other parts of the forums that share my views [1] [2]. We are exploring ways to work the art into the chapter openings, but that's still under consideration.
Part of the problem with waiting, is fulfillment. We need the books before Fall classes start up again so we have time to ship them out. A delay may not seem like much right now, but it could put us in a crunch come August. We are exploring solutions that would prevent that from being an issue and allow us to spend more time working on the formatting, maybe have dust jackets included, and have uncapped signups. Right now though, that's still being researched, and we can't guarantee anything.
Valid point, I was just stating a personal preference, probably wouldn't be a deal breaker. I just tend to appreciate books more when they've got neat little pictures at the start of a chapter, helps build images/the world better IMO.
I'll definitely keep an eye on things; can't wait to find out when everything has been ironed out completely.

Alright. What does the news post entail? Will I get an email, or need to stay alert for it?callumgare wrote:There'll be a news post with all the details when sign ups begin.
Oh yeah. I would stay up until three in the morning drinking glass coke (sparkle cola) and eating mentos (mint-als), my room only lit by the glowing nuka cola quantum (sparkle cola rad) bottles that I made for myself. Those were the days. I was pretty upset when Scorch 238 left too. His voice was like liquid gold mixed with dark chocolate being drizzled over Princess Celestia's cutie mark. Regardless, I eventually gave up and went over to CrazedRamblings. Crazed eventually had to stop in Project Horizons. He left with honor, and was truly a good reader.callumgare wrote:That was my fallout equestrian experience too. I know little to nothing about internet transactions, but it seems simple enough. Can't you just say, "Send the money here, and we mail you the book."?callumgare wrote:Payment is still one of those things being nutted out. (I realize it's probably not that simple...)

Hmm, when I click on the feed, I just get a white screen with jumbles of letters and numbers... Am I doing it wrong?zemming wrote:There will be a new post for when signups open. I'm going to be able to get started with all that credit stuff because I'll turn 18 in mid April. I know getting a credit card can be a hellish process because of all the stupid banking rules, so I might have to settle for a debit card. Do debit cards work just as well as credit cards when it comes to this kind of internet money transaction stuff?zemming wrote:Basically, regardless of who we use to process payments, we will be accepting all major credit cards (if your Key Bank debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, that counts). P.S. Thanks for all this info and up to date response. Having a team working on something who are actively and daily involved in it means so much.

If you want the cover/spine art from the original printing I can get you the vector files. I also can change it if you want since I was the one who made it in the first place.
Re: WE'RE BACK! -- Under New Management!
I would like to point out that I have no idea what the live feedback thingymabob is. I prefer just a simple "Enter Email address here" and get an email when it comes...zemming wrote:-snip-
And secondly... Yes, just entering the debit/credit # thing to buy is what I'm looking for. Simple and easy.
Btw. Do we pay at sign up or can we sign up first and then pay when we can? I'm really asking for this cause I want to sign up to know for sure I'll get a set but I don't know if I'll be able to pay right on that day or not. (Most likely will have to wait til the next day or something like that to actually pay)... And don't want to end up waiting "too long" and not get the books...

There are two issues at play here:Jusey1 wrote:I would like to point out that I have no idea what the live feedback thingymabob is. I prefer just a simple "Enter Email address here" and get an email when it comes...zemming wrote:-snip-

Most payment processors (e.g. Paypal) will only release the money to us after we ship you the product. This works well for some businesses except for one small issue. Because we are small we don't have any starting capital. And the printer will not print the books until they have their money (they do not accept net payments). This Catch 22 is what ultimately killed the first attempt at Past Sins and was one of the factors that killed the second printing of this. (Dear Princess Celestia: Today I learned not to use Paypal.) This is why we are researching which one to use very heavily: we need them to release the money to us before we have a product to make a product.
The second issue is that we won't know the final cost of the books until sign ups are complete. We can provide estimates of the final cost up until that point but they are only estimates. We need to know how many people want books before we can get an exact quote and the only way we've found is to open sign ups with an estimated quote, get a real quote and then send out invoices. Because if we base all of our numbers on, for example, getting 400 books but 800 people sign up and we charge 800 people what it'll cost to order 400 books...people will end up overpaying and that's a situation we really don't want to be in. (Remember the books get cheaper as more people sign up)
In the end we are trying to get it set up so if you have a card with Visa or Mastercard logo on it you'll be set.

You need a program that can read RSS feeds. A bunch of email programs can so you could try googling your email program name and "RSS".Worldenterer wrote:Hmm, when I click on the feed, I just get a white screen with jumbles of letters and numbers... Am I doing it wrong?
Alternatively here's two lists of programs that can read RSS feeds: http://lifehacker.com/google-reader-is- ... er-5990456
http://www.rss-readers.org/list-of-rs-feed-reader/
If you'd like to receive a email you could trying using IF This Then That. A website that allows you to connect "triggers" (such as a new item being added to an RSS feed) to a "action" (such as sending you an email).
https://ifttt.com/recipes/4447-rss-mail
If you do use IF This Then That have a fiddle with it, you can get it to do an awful lot. You can even get it to notify you via SMS if you wish.
Ah debit cards are much cooler. All the ablity-to-buy-internet-things awesomeness of a credit card with out the ability for you to end up owing people money (and depending on your bank possibly without any fees either). As zemming said, so long as you've got a Visa or Mastercard logo on your card it'll function exactly like a credit card will in terms of buying stuff on the internet.Worldenterer wrote:I'm going to be able to get started with all that credit stuff because I'll turn 18 in mid April. That might work fine if you're only dealing with three or four people but as this project will have potentially hundreds of orders it becomes extremely important to automate as much as possible. If we had to check to make sure that everyones paid us properly and then deal with all the inevitable problems that would occur with at least some orders such as not having paid the right amount then we'd never get a change to get anything else done. Using an external payment provider makes it easier for both of us. You just have to stick in your credit/debit card details and you'll be changed the right amount plus have greater assurance that things won't go hang wire. For us it means more time polishing off the book.Worldenterer wrote:I know little to nothing about internet transactions, but it seems simple enough. You... You are my new favourite internet hero. Why didn't I think of drinking coke and eating mentos while listening?Worldenterer wrote:Oh yeah. For me FO:E/Scorch helped keep my sanity during my last year of high school.
Did Scorch ever say why the project died or is it just one of those things where life catches up with you and you mean to finish something but you never do?
His voice was pretty amazing. Crazed was a good reader too? Mmm, maybe some point after reading FO:E in book form when I want to dip into the FO:E universe again I'll try Crazed's reading.
How did you make the cola bottles glo?
