It's cute how you think people should be immune to criticism simply because they're providing an effectively free service.

I don't care at all if this cute or not. You want books without waiting? Print them yourself. You don't criticize people who do something for free just because they owe you nothing.

Performing a free service doesn't make one immune to criticism. Period. If I promise I will do something for my wife, and I don't do it, she's perfectly within her rights to criticize me for my lack of action because it is a reflection of my character. Why? Because I promised something, and reneged on that promise by not following through. Hiding behind silly arguments such as 'but it's free!' doesn't change the fact that it reflects on the character of the person promising service.

Furthermore, there is absolutely nothing wrong with inquiring about the state of a project like this. Similarly, there is nothing wrong with suggesting that status updates would be helpful. This is called constructive criticism.

Was lankygit giving constructive criticism? Not at all. Despite my agreement with his general sentiment, it was hostile toward the people running the project, and I didn't care for his tone. But that doesn't change his right to have his opinion heard. I do apologize for my previous post being as dismissive as it was, for much the same reason. You are entitled to your opinion that lankygit is a dickbag, and you also have a right for that opinion to be heard. But it doesn't reflect well on your character, either.

Calm down, please. All these delays are not fun to anyone, don't act negatively and make it worse.

@Lankygit
It's not ok to be hostile, whether the service is free or not. A complaint is more effective without a negative attitude.

@ Serious Pony
I know they are doing all this for free, and I really respect them for that. I trust them, but in return, they should do a little something so that I know I'm not trusting the wrong person.

I am not asking for a book set without waiting. I don't mind waiting at all. What I do feel concerned about, however, is whether or not I am waiting for nothing. One post from them a week, anything, even some random chat, that's all I need to feel confident that this will become a reality.

YAY! BAIT!

I haven't promised anything, simply cause I know I can't guarantee anything at this point as I have said countless times. At this point, it is better off having us as plan B and figuring out how to get the books yourselves.

Why hasn't Wepay happened, because it hasn't happened, the things I have said in the doom and gloom post is still true. The other admins want to do this but it is clear they can't for time constraints. I can't really give them shit for it either as I'm at fault as well.

I would commandeer this project myself but it comes down to location, I would have to either ship it from the states which 60,000+ worth of books would be a logistics nightmare without a proper business. The other would drive the price up by 30-50 books across the board by printing local.

I understand in the trust issues and take criticism freely, want the best bet for getting these books, wait for Autunite to become active again. When will this happen? more likely when his semester is over which I can't tell you when it is cause I don't stalk him.

I'm sorry if this isn't the news you want.

News is new whether it is good or bad. I hope you can do this eventually. I personally don't want to see anyone who is trying to do this for us under any obligations to complete this in a certain amount of time. I hope this makes any sense.

Honestly, you could tell me that the books won't ship for 3 years, and will cost me 4 toes off of the foot of my choice plus my firstborn*, and I would be happy. Updates are news, and news is good.

*Since he already exists, you will need to care for him properly.
