300 sets? Do you understand that helload of people want to buy it? That isn't fair just as Celestia giving Twilight 2 tickets while she has 5 friends
Re: Announcement for Nov 17th, 2012
This has nothing to do with it being fair or unfair. It's not as if the number of sets was intentionally limited, it's a simple matter of available space, or rather the lack thereof. They simply can't store more than 300 sets at once and that's that.Serious Pony wrote:300 sets? Do you understand that helload of people want to buy it? Of course, it would be great for everyone if more sets could be handled at once and I'm sure the people actually handling the books would prefer that too, but it's simply not possible.
And yes, they DO understand that a lot of people want to have the books
I'm sorry if this is seems a bit ranty and I'm sure you don't actually mean it that way, but well...

That will definitely go up on the frontpage, just like all the other important news.Chappy wrote:Just to clarify, when it becomes possible to pre-order, that will be stated on the main page of the site? I can barely wait for this, I'm really excited!

I don't believe you understand the sheer size of 300 sets, so let me do the math for you...Serious Pony wrote:Is it possible to keep books somewhere else? At someone's basement/home/garage/ I think a lot of people would help you
1 set is 13.4 cm * 24 cm * 16.5 cm = 5306.4 cubic cm.
300 sets are 5306.4 cubic cm * 300 = 1.6 cubic meters
That's only the books themselves without being packaged. Boxed they would probably end up being at well over 2 cubic meters.
Also weight come into mind...
1 set is about 4.5kg
4.5kg * 300 = 1350 kg = 1.35 t
Just a little food for thought, the first printing ended up being 370 sets total. I believe that was alot a strain the way it was, so be thankful that they are going for 300 this go around.

In this situation I think that it would be fair and obvious to sell 1 set in 1 hands.

I would think that as highly unlikely, the price for a single set of books to be manufactured would be rather expensive.Serious Pony wrote:In this situation I think that it would be fair and obvious to sell 1 set in 1 hands.

He means a restriction of only one set per person. If there's only such a little amount of sets available it would be a bit unfair if someone got two or three sets while others don't get any.sirhcx wrote:I would think that as highly unlikely, the price for a single set of books to be manufactured would be rather expensive.
