The big difference is personal copy versus an official copy.ProfessorPat wrote:That would make sense if you were told that now, after the first printing, but I agree it doesn't make too much sense. Had you done it before, the one official print source would have one version. Sure it would be different from the original source material, but it would only have the one version out there.Neztep wrote:She doesn't want there to be multiple versions of her story floating around. While I personally don't really understand her decision I will respect it nonetheless. And Bleheh13, yes we will make quite a few posts regarding sign ups when they start and they will be open for at least a month. Honestly we should have started signups already but our signup form page is not quite ready from what I understand.
What's to say I don't take the PDF and go through fixing any issues that may be there and print it for myself anyway? I have no intention of doing so, both out of respect for Kkat's wishes and lack of knowledge and ability to bind a book, but with the source material available to anyone, how do we know there isn't a personal copy with all typos corrected already out there somewhere?
Just saying that while I respect the request, I really don't get it.

Re: Questions Thread.
Would you also be Fixing the Russian, Spanish, Itallian, German, and French translations? (I think I missed a language, I should be sleeping)
How about the audio books in production, one of which is up to chapter 29?
Then there are the comics and a flash based sprite comic.
And, all the copies that were download.
See the reason yet?

Re: Questions Thread.
Did they carry the typos over in the translation? Can you misspell something in audio? Having not read any of the comics, I can't say, but did they all copy things 100% original from the source? Grammatically, it should stay as is regardless, so none of that is in question for me, but the typos could have been altered without affecting the story in any way.
I get why you would want it to be one way consistently, but there is no official audiobook, no official translation, no official comic. Taking the original docs and making a single official book would not have left you with multiples if you consider that the rest are all unofficial derivations of the original work. To truly be able to call it the official work though, I'd imagine you would need to get Kkat's approval of the alterations, and then release it. That's where the problem in altering it arises as the request was that it be left unchanged.
I am in no way saying it needed to be changed, just that it could have been and you would still only have had a single official copy of the work had Kkat been up to approving the alterations and naming this one the official, final copy of the story. I am fine with the minor mistakes in the story, don't get me wrong, but typos (and typos alone, any grammatical errors that exist have not even caused me to think twice about what I read) could have been fixed had Kkat not requested it be left untouched.
To sum things up, I am indifferent on the issue of fixing any mistakes in the source, I'm just defending the idea that it could have been done without there being 10 versions of the story floating around by the time printing has ceased here.

Have all the books been shipped?
I saw the post a while ago that said that nearly all books have been shipped. It also said that people receiving the books that have not been shipped should get a message. I did not get a message. On October 9, 2012 I sent foeprintproject@gmail.com a message asking about it and have not heard back.
Details that may help:
Name on doc: James Mufasa
Sent via amazon payments on April 8
Transaction ID: 16Q9C762A6AHHOSMMVB8SMFIHAUK2G8U9AQ
Reference ID: 82a0150d-292c-4cb4-870f-e237ff363793
Thanks

Argh, sorry I didn't catch your email. I had intended on emailing people about book errors but I ended up not having time and then I promptly forgot about it. All of the books have been shipped including yours and yours should have gotten there quite a while ago. It didn't get returned to me so I don't know what went wrong. Unfortunately I don't go home for another two weeks so what I'm able to do here is limited.

No problem. Today I went to the mail room, turns out it was sent under my facebook name, so they did not know who to give it to.Neztep wrote:Argh, sorry I didn't catch your email. Second printing has not begun yet, so you can't get anything quite yet. Watch out for the new signups and you'll be able to go from there in the process of obtaining a copy.Gilded Scribe wrote:So I'm new here but this story has intrigued me for a long time, my question is how does the book shippment work, how does one obtain a set?

Re: Questions Thread.
I just found out about this place after someone directed me to it who ordered in the past, and though I've looked through various information threads I'm having trouble telling exactly what the situation with the printing is at the moment. So, although I know you've probably heard these questions plenty of times before,
-Have signups for the second printing begun yet? I noticed in the FAQ it said no, and something about moving to a new site, but seeing as I really want to order FO:E I just want to be sure.
-I'm pretty sure it was stated that printings for Project Horizons and Pink Eyes wouldn't start until after the second wave of FO:E, so I'll assume that those haven't come into the picture yet. Correct me if I happen to be wrong though, please.
-Is there a way to receive notifications about updates to this site? Obviously I want to know when signups start or anything else relevant, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's bad about checking sites on a day-to-day basis.
Thanks, and hopefully I don't look like too much of a newb for asking this stuff. Just seems like any time I don't ask a question, I found out later I really should have.
