Fallout: Equestria PDFs
Re: Fallout: Equestria PDFs
Awesome to hear and I don't really like jackets honestly... Always find that they feel weird... I prefer just feeling the actually cover of the book.
And I also liked about sorathecrow supporting the no picture thing... (No pictures should lower the cost, yes?).
Anyways. Am happy to hear de' news and cannot wait for the printing to begin! And I hope there will be a copy for me on hold just in-case I didn't get a chance to get it right away!

There are a few services that I can't quite remember the name of that will do very limited hardcover printings, but they are far from affordable for anyone without some deep pockets. That's the primary reason behind large runs. They are prohibitively expensive for most without printing hundreds.Grieffon wrote:Can someone recommend an affordable printing service that do hardcover?
If you're determined to get a set sooner, or in some alternate format, we've seen some nice looking paperbacks pop up like these. That's about all I can say without digging much deeper for other printing companies again.tetrapony wrote:I did the same thing with The BookPatch:
I Just wanted it some physiscal form and read it again, wasnt that costly, 60 bucks and they came out nice!

Re: Fallout: Equestria PDFs
The archive doesn't seem to be uploaded correctly. Winrar says "unexpected end of archive" (downloaded it multiple times), it can't be opened with either Winzip/Winrar/7zip and it can't even be repaired. Can someone confirm that problem and/or reupload the archive?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Fallout: Equestria PDFs
Would it be possible to obtain the working files used to create the provided PDFs or to obtain PDF/A or PDF/X-1a:2001 versions of them?
I am currently trying to print off a soft-cover copy of the first volume using the Espresso Book Machine at my local public library. I have tried to use the provided PDF file, as well as a PDF/A-1B and a PDF/X-1A:2001 version that I obtained by converting the provided PDF file using Adobe Acrobat. All three failed to print on the Espresso Book Machine and the staff believe the problem is with the PDF. The fact that the converted PDFs also don't work makes me suspicious that something is not being converted properly.
I was hoping either to obtain the original working files so that I can directly generate a PDF/A and/or PDF/X-1a:2001 version, or to obtain such a PDF/A or PDF/X-1a:2001 version from you. At the least, could you please direct me to whom I should directly contact with my request as I am not exactly sure who would have access and ability to provide such files.
Thank you for all your assistance and for all the work your team has done to make a physical version of the story possible. You can either send me a PM or respond directly to this post.
Cheers,
Caneighdian Jake

We are aware of the issue with the PDFs. I emailed Arcane_Scroll since the PDF corruption was likely caused from the server migration a few weeks ago. If he cannot fix the files on the backend, we will explore other options to get them back up.
The posted PDFs are, to the best of my knowledge, the same PDF/x files given to the printer. So once the files are fixed, they should print just fine.

Thanks for the quick response and for letting me know what's happening behind the scenes, Zemming. I just heard back from the staff at the library, who heard back from the staff at Book on Demands, the makers of the Expresso Book Machine. It seems all of them are also stumped as to why the PDF does not work; all they know is that the problem seems to be with the PDF. For all intents and purposes, they say the files should work. I'll post if we find what the problem is on our end.zemming wrote:We are aware of the issue with the PDFs. I have no idea where to print these off from. I guess I will just ask my school librarian where I can. I'm going to try and get 2 sets, just in case I lose one .

You can check the "On Demand Books" website to see if there is an Espresso Book Machine near where you live. The website is << http://ondemandbooks.com/ >>. I think this is one of the simplest solutions because all you need are properly formatted PDFs of the book body and book cover and the machine does all the printing, trimming, and binding for you. I'm estimating its going to cost me about $15 CND per book (unfortunately, it only does softcover books). As its the local public library that owns the machine, I'm pretty sure there isn't much of a markup on that price.Akarasiic wrote:I have no idea where to print these off from. Another thing you can is google for "book printers" that are near where you live. I found a few around where I live before I learnt about the Espresso Book Machine in the library. You will have more options to choose from (such as a hardcover) with a book printer, but its bound to also be a bit more pricey.
