I could see how having Fallout knowledge could make things less interesting or even a letdown if you disagree with certain references. So far I have enjoyed all of them as they fit in really well and have a great approach to things. The fact that Fallout 3 had to explain most things to players in regards to the universe and what was happening is part of the reason I like the way Kkat did the explanations of the Fallout side of things. Fallout 3 had to basically explain everything on the assumption that people hadn't played the first two, seeing as many hadn't and probably wouldn't have played 3 had it not been a Bethesda game following the successes of TES in a new universe with an altered approach. Kkat kinda took that aspect of the game and used it to explain Fo:E in a much better way than if the assumption that people knew both worlds would have played out, all my opinion of it of course.

I originally didn't want to play Fallout 3, even more so after watching a friend play it. It just didn't appeal to me. An FPS in a (mostly brown) post-apocalyptic world with very little colour? Not my usual kind of game, which is usually a more colorful platformer, like the Jak and Daxter series, and similar things, even God of War (which was an okay game, but not part of this review) was more enticing than Fallout3. (Console gamer for the most part) But one night in college, I woke up after a forgotten dream to a singular unstoppable need. I needed to play this game. I played it and beat it (far faster than I should, completely skipping the downtown DC ruins and not doing barely half of the quests) I play a game for storyline you see.

After the ending; I had almost no real desire to play again. I had never even bothered to turn on my radio, so I never heard Three Dog’s enticing wordplay and news of my heroism (actually I played neutral so I don't know what he would have said) Some years later, I stumble across the pony virus as it began its spread across the internet. I deny it, simply stating, as before, not something I would be interested in. After an astoundingly large number of references from webcomics, I finally decided to give it a chance. I had some difficulty accepting my new passion, but that is a story for another time. As I was saying before, I came to love it and found EQD eventually while searching for a picture of a pony in Deadspace2 armour floating in space; I found it and the Fallout Equestria main image. I clicked the Deadspace one and it led to EQD and a fanfic on the site. I did not care for fanfics just as before and backed out to see the FOE image which took me back to EQD and FOE's main page. :trixieshiftright:

As I have previously mentioned, I am a bit of a webcomic reader, well beneath fanatic, but still above a novice. Point is, I noticed that there was an animated comic link of the first two chapters on the page, so naturally I was greatly inclined to go ahead and give it a chance. After the first chapter I was quite enjoying it, saying to myself, "Long as I read the animated comic, I should be able to get through it just fine." After stopping somewhere in the middle of Ch2. the animation had ended and I realized I was enjoying this far more than I thought and waiting for the next animation was no longer an option. I was hooked in a way that the games themselves (Fallout3 and NV) have never engrossed or ever have enticed me, even now. I was making connections left and right. (Forgot to mention that I had played FO3 again before reading this but still didn't get everything and played as a good person) For me playing and watching FO3 and MLP:FiM respectively, gave me a greater connection to the story than I had ever experienced before. I felt it was a masterpiece because of the impossibility that it destroyed by making it relatable in terms of my experiences in FO3, and keeping all the minor jokes of the Brony community. It was a masterfully written crossover of the two seemingly incompatible universes. :pinkiehappy:

After reading FOE and never playing NV, it became obvious that this needed to be fixed; unfortunately I didn't have the money for it, so I just played FO3 again. I attempted to do everything, all the while completely incapable of removing the Littlepip in my head telling me what I should be doing, where I should be going, (I wonder what DJ Pon3 is saying about me now, is there a tree person in this too?) All sorts of questions that needed to be answered, and many of them that couldn't (How did this happen, who were the leaders of Vault-Tec, where did the Super Mutants come from, all that good stuff) some of which has been answered though. (The Master) and even more connections were drawn afterwards (Master=Goddess). After the very last mission, my mind was (mostly) at ease. I played both FO3 and NV vanillas, never once getting DLC. I'm certain it's pretty good, but I feel fine without it. Now, I recommend MLP:FiM to anyone whose played FO3, and obviously, you know what comes next. :ajsmug:

TL;DR It was fun.

I avoided Fallout for similar reasons for about a year after it came out. Finally decided to give it a shot when the game of the year edition came out and I started playing. Kinda blew through it with no real interest in the side quests and thought it was decent (I managed to avoid Three Dog's quest in the main storyline and never listened to the static of the station I didn't fix so I didn't get the interest in him others seemed to have after that run). Played it a couple of other times, same speed run tactics with different karmic goals. Finally bumped up the difficulty and played it which led to me being forced to explore more to survive. It got better as I let the game expand, but still not something I sank loads of time into. Avoided MLP out of unwillingness to be corrupted by the brony that went too far into the fandom and just annoyed people with it. After I escaped him, I gave it a shot and got into that fandom as well. After finding FOE and beginning to read it, I had a renewed interest in actually exploring all of FO3 and now I'm loving all three of them with no real complaints about any.

I'm replaying FO3 now in an attempt to actually do the things I never do. Keep trying to be good and follow my Littlepip ideals, but being good doesn't get me enough supplies to survive most of the time and I end up stealing everything. :twilightblush:

Didn't like NV myself, so I didn't go for the DLC either, but I got the GOTY FO3, so it came with the DLC. I'd recommend at least Broken Steel for nothing more than the continuation after the end of the vanilla story and the extended level cap (and the new perks that come with those 10 extra levels). :pinkiehappy:

The only Fallout game I've ever played is Fallout 3, thought not due to lack of interest. I played it every chance I got, but those chance only came around when I visited a friend's house. Never beat the game, mostly because I was trying to do everything all at once, but I do remember stumbling across that caravan near Megaton that's under attack by a crippled Deathclaw. I crept up to them after I heard the first cry for help, and when I came around the corner I nearly shot the first person I saw. I had no idea what was going on, especially when the guy thanked me for saving everyone's life and handed me a map. Hell, I never even saw the Deathclaw, and no matter where I looked I couldn't find anything that might have been attacking them.

*shrug*

I'm trying to download FTL right now, but... I don't have Steam, and that's a problem. I also like to play Dwarf Fortress, but only for Adventure Mode. My adventurer Cobar is goddamn unkillable.

I mean, seriously. Here's an MS Paint comic I made of something Cobar did. That block of text down there, near the bottom? That's a screenshot of the combat feed from the game.

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2 ... 51uwc6.jpg

And don't even get me started on his first and oldest companion, Dema.

Actually, yes, let's get started on Dema. She's an ancient crone of a woman with white hair. She's indestructible, she's scary, and she has more kills under her belt than any NPC has a right to. She's lost her husband over the course of Cobar's adventures (I used his head as a projectile, as seen in the comic above), she's lost a hand, she's lost the ability to walk without a crutch, she has more scars than regular skin tissue, and every time Cobar tries to get himself killed (because goddamnit the game's motto is "LOSING IS FUN") she's there to pull him out of the fire. She's pulled arrows from her guts and then used them to stab hordes of kobolds to death. She's killed goblins with only her crutch-fu. She's punched things so hard their spines break. She's punched things so hard their hearts have torn. She's caught spears in her mouth at the cost of teeth, then pulled said spears from her attackers' hands. For the sake of all that is holy, she lost an arm and then used that arm to beat a civilization ruling armadillo demon to death in his own throne room when even Cobar couldn't hurt the damn thing.

To be fair, I often use DF Hack to take control of Dema and make her pick up things she's dropped, such as her arm. But the fact that she didn't pass out or die from blood loss, and was then able to use that arm as a weapon and kill a powerful demon once I relinquished control of her... I would honestly think she's a vampire or werebeast. Except she's not. She DOES pass out sometimes, and vampires don't do that. It's just that she is THE DETERMINATOR.

I've changed her custom title from "Maceman" to "Blackjack."
"Gee Calamity, you won't fight your brother, but you'll steal everything out of his Flying Fortress that isn't nailed down?"

"Colonel Autumn, we have a problem. Somepony has stolen... the aft quarter of the ship."

"CALAAAAMMMIITTTYYYYYY!!!" - preserving this quote until such time as its owner can be found

I love dwarf fortress but I only ever really play in fortress mode. It's like the ultimate management test. On top of that it's always fun to start a story log about it. So much crazy shenanigans.

I love Dwarf Fortress but sadly always get myself killed building my ultimate project...last one was a whole castle supported by one tile...good times. XD

I was thinking of trying to recreate Zelda:Link to the past or Tenpony Tower...but I'm lazy.

I enjoyed Fallout 3, and New Vegas as well (though New Vegas was unfortunately a bit buggier).

Other games I've liked a lot are Skyrim (also Oblivion), the Borderlands Series (BL1, 2, and TPS), and Disgaea (All of them, including the ports, though excluding Disgaea Infinite. I have Infinite, but haven't played it.), Saints Row (2, 3, 4, Gat out of Hell). Yeah, I've put a fair few hours into every game mentioned. I've got other games I've played more than some of these, mind. Minecraft, Terraria, Beat Hazard, etc. My most played game would be Borderlands 2 actually, with Skyrim being 2nd.

As to how Fallout Equestria handled the Fallout 3 world. I thought it was pretty well done. Obviously some things were changed, I can also remember there was a glaring inconsistency or two, and a logic fail or other, though I can't recall anything specific ATM.

Wouldn't mind seeing someone write an epic Skyrim (or Oblivion) MLP Fanfic and getting that printed too. Someone I know wrote an incomplete Skyrim/Pony fanfic, but it wasn't worthy of being printed IMO, even if I liked it (I contributed to a bonus chapter playing on the Flutterstalker meme, actually XD). It would be a great companion series to Fallout Equestria, but if someone was going to do it, it would probably have long since been completed by now.
