Fallout: Equestria Book Project

Since all y'all have to wait for a little bit longer than expected, I figured you may as well have something to read. So, here's what's going on.

Just to be clear, we're going to send out invoices as soon as we can, but we are still waiting on the shipping quotes to come in. An update will be posted here, and an email will be sent out before we do. So if you're unsure, just check the homepage first to see if there's any new news.

Now for the details:

We will be using a distributor to take care of the shipping and handling. This does increase the cost of the books a little bit above our initial estimate, but trust me, it's worth it. They'll be able to process and have the books shipped out far quicker than we ever could doing it ourselves. Plus they're working on gettings us specific quotes for the shipping prices for everyone. So instead of shipping prices being based off the weighted average of different countries, or instead of paying a premium for flat rate shipping, everyone will be charged only what's needed.

I emailed them yesterday and received a call shortly before 1700. They're going to take till around EOB Friday to finalize our quote. It sounds like they're doing a good job and are working to bring our costs down, that just takes time. So things have been pushed back a little bit until they get us the quote, but overall it's not a huge delay and it should keep the cost down for everyone, especially for all the international fans.

The main thing is everyone needs to pay when we do send out invoices. The printer can't get started until everyone pays. So if we have a bunch of people who wait till the last day of payments, the whole project is going to be delayed further.

There's a good chance some people will drop from the signup list or won't pay. So if we have open spots, we'll give people on the waitlist an opportunity to purchase the books.

So I can stop constantly reloading your frontpage and checking my junk mail so I don't miss my opportunity to throw my wallet at you? That's a bit of a relief.

Two quick questions. When the invoices are sent, will there be a time limit to pay them by? I'm asking cause if you guys sent them on a Friday then I might not being able to pay until Monday as since I won't get the email until later and will most likely not have a chance to put my money into the bank until Monday (thusly paying on that day). Now if they are sent on another week day or on Sunday then I would be paying the next day...

Also, will we get notified when our copy(s) has been sent? So we get an idea when they will come in the mail... Really want to ask this cause if something goes wrong with the shipping and we both never know about it... I would like to be able to report it and see if someone can investigate what happened rather than waiting for months, thinking you guys hadn't shipped it quite yet or something like that.

We will allow everyone who signed up a reasonable amount of time to pay so they can shuffle money around or whatever as needed.

We'll have tracking included with everyone's orders and our distributor should email you with your tracking number when it's sent out. I don't exactly know their process, but having tracking numbers without telling you what it is wouldn't be very useful

Awesome news overall! Even if there is a bit of a price increase, expediting the process considerably makes it worth it in my eyes. Thanks for all the hard work and initiative it must take to maintain this endeavor!

Agreed. Here's hoping it doesn't raise the prices too much, though
