Just because we did it one way and someone else did it another way doesn't in any way, shape, or form mean we should change.
Just because we did it one way before doesn't mean we can't make it better.

Past Sins is merely an example, The Harry Potter series is another good example, I believe that after year 4 they were all 700+ pages or thereabouts. The Order of the Phoenix was 870 pages in the U.S.A. and it was still quite manageable.

Counter-example: The Lord of the Rings.

Commonly thought of as a trilogy, but originally written as a single novel broken into and intended to be published in six volumes.

There are merits and flaws to each method; I just don't see the need to change what we did before when it worked perfectly well. Supposedly it's to save money, but I honestly doubt it'll get that much cheaper. (Do we have numbers on that yet, btw?)

:pipshrug: Yeah I think I'm probably gonna side on the 5 book format, unless the two book is significantly cheaper. I'll still buy it either way, but just throwing out my two cents.

I appreciate everyone's input, but the decision to reformat Fallout Equestria has already been made. We gave much consideration to the merits of simply reprinting the original 5 volume set as opposed to reformatting, and the consensus was that a reformat would be the best way to proceed. After looking at our sample, we realized that printing it in 5 books would not best suit the new formatting.

Current estimates indicate approximately a 30% reduction in cost compared to the first printing. Please understand, the cost is further reduced as more books are ordered, but we cannot give a more accurate estimate without having more information.

Then you're idiots for not asking the people you're going to be ordering these for what they would prefer, as it seems to be a general preference among potential buyers for the original five-volume format.

Calm down. These guys are the ones who took the initiative to do this fan project at no monetary gain, not you. Your opinion is important, and relevant to this topic--anger and name-calling is not.

Me, personally, I don't see what the attachment is to five books. The thing reads as one whole story, doesn't it? However you arbitrarily decide to cut it, it's still the same book.

EDIT: And I'll leave it at that. Don't want to derail.

Forgive me for trying to call someone out on what I firmly believe is a bad decision without consulting with the people who will actually be spending the vast majority of the money on it. It may not be a woefully important decision, but that doesn't make it any less bad in its own right.

I am, actually, tempted to do this myself. Should their attempt fail to generate enough interest and fall flat like the last few, I probably will.

I prefer the cheaper way and two books will be a lot cheaper...

I, for one, cannot afford the large 85 dollars amount without harming my other wishes.

There's nothing to forgive for expressing an opinion on how you think things should work. I WILL forgive you for being a tool about it, though. :ajsmug:

I haven't read through the whole of this thread, but someone suggested I should voice my opinion, so here I am.

I actually wanted the five separate volumes. I might not actually go for the printed run, now. I don't know about anyone else, but it's pretty unwieldy for me to handle that much book at one time when actually trying to READ it. I have a volume that has three books in it, and it's smaller by word count than the proposed two Fo:E volumes would be. I rarely read it because it barely fits in my hands, it's extremely difficult to turn single pages at a time, and it causes a great deal of wear on the spine and binding every time I sit down with it. I'd rather pay more for five volumes than compress it down to two just to save a bit of money on printing and shipping.

Maybe I'm alone in that opinion (again, I haven't really read the whole thread, just the original post), but there it is. If the new round of printing goes with the two volumes, alright. But I'm going to have to pass, unfortunately. A shame, really. I missed the first run, and I really wanted a hard copy of Fallout: Equestria, but I'm not going to pay for a hard copy I literally can't use.
