I'm going to use thebookpatch.com to get my copy of the books, but before I do, I would like to know if anyone has used that site to print their copies already? If so, how did your copies turn out?
I would also like for my copies to look like everyone else's,

You won't get the same result regardless of how you set up your book there. You're getting a perfect bound paperback through them. It won't come out the same as a stamped, case bound hardback no matter how you set it up. You could clone the green and logo look, but it'll still be different from the ones printed here.
I'd suggest coming up with a cover design that you like, or tweaking a dust jacket design that's out there and using it as your cover (though that requires some measurements on the originals and the paperbacks you'd be getting). If you want uniformity between yours and others, you'd need to get us all to agree on a paperback design, though considering there are like 10 dust jacket designs out there, I doubt you'll get much cooperation there.
While I'm rambling, you guys can also use bookprintondemand.com for quite a bit less money and no publishing worries. I can't say how well they do color covers... the only thing I printed there was black and white. But anyway, they're worth checking out.

Like Pat said, you won't be able to get them to look like that. However, I recently used thebookpatch to print out the set. I used a modified version of a dust jacket that was posted to this forum. You can see the results here.Arson wrote:I'm new to this and I has questions!

I will say one thing. I received the 5 book set about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it's clear someone else had printed from there before, as there was a mix up and 2 of the books were printed with the wrong cover. HOWEVER, the good news is, after contacting them, they immediately reprinted the books with the correct covers and sent them out at no charge.
The quality of the books are absolutely fantastic though, so despite the complications, I would definitely recommend using their service. If you want copies of the covers I used, shoot me a message on Facebook or Twitter. The average size of each file is about 20mb.

Is this the only place where I can get the books like that or can I get it stamped, case bounded and hardbacked from somewhere else?ProfessorPat wrote:It won't come out the same as a stamped, case bound hardback no matter how you set it up.
What's a modified version of a dust jacket?YoshiOfADown wrote:I used a modified version of a dust jacket that was posted to this forum.
I apologize if I'm asking dumb questions.

I just mean I took an image meant for a dust jacket and rescaled it to fit the dimensions of a paperback book.Arson wrote:What's a modified version of a dust jacket?YoshiOfADown wrote:I used a modified version of a dust jacket that was posted to this forum.

Would you mind sharing those redimensionned book covers to make the thing easier? Just for the virtue of kindness nothing more, nothing less, a pure act of kindness ^^YoshiOfADown wrote:I just mean I took an image meant for a dust jacket and rescaled it to fit the dimensions of a paperback book.Arson wrote:What's a modified version of a dust jacket?YoshiOfADown wrote:I used a modified version of a dust jacket that was posted to this forum.

I've looked for case bound printers, and unless you're getting a lot of them made it's not even worth considering. If you only get one printed through the few I found that would even bother with small runs of them, it came out to be something like $800 for a set, printed, bound, stamped, and shipped.Arson wrote:Is this the only place where I can get the books like that or can I get it stamped, case bounded and hardbacked from somewhere else?ProfessorPat wrote:It won't come out the same as a stamped, case bound hardback no matter how you set it up.

And as was mentioned before, just resize one of the ones out there. It should be the same as anyone else that has done it if you go through thebookpatch, but if you use another printer, odds are the spine will be different at the very least.
If you can get the dimensions of what they'll be printing, tweaking one of the covers you like should be easy enough.
I decided to try something myself, but my design was just a white cover with the title on it. I'm still tempted to do a little diy hardcover conversion. Won't be as nice as a sewn binding, but hardcovers are just so much nicer

I'm also going to throw in praise for book patch. The quality of the books is amazing and they were shipped to me pretty quickly considering I'm in the UK. The shipping price is pretty steep and I was forced to pay an extra £30 to release my books from customs, so you should be prepared to spend quite a bit of money to get them. If that doesn't phase you though, then this is easily the best way to get your books seeing as this whole project seems to have completely fallen through.
