FoE: Project Horizions Proofing

UPDATE: We will not be doing the editing. It is all taking place on the Cloudsdale forum.

Ignore everything below this line -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone! I hope you are as excited by the end of Project Horizons as I am. Even though there is no official plans to print a book of it, I was hoping we as a community could start on the proof reading side of things.
I know Somber has been having people proof his chapters since the beginning, but people can still miss stuff. (Booby pins am I right?) Also the word count on PH is just ridiculous, approximately 1.7 million words if Equestria Daily is to be believed, and getting a jump on editing couldn't hurt.
Towards this goal I have created for us a Google Drive specifically to hold our ongoing proof process. The link below should give you permission to download, save, and edit files in the Drive. I am not too sure how well this will work so if there are any problems drop me a line at: project.horizon.proof@gmail.com and I'll see what can be done to correct it. I should be checking the email about once a day. I'll post any known issues here in this thread.
Link: (I'm holding this space for when we get an official nod to start proofing)
The files that are currently in the drive are the exact same Somber has on his resource page. I downloaded them fresh last night.
If you make any changes to the files please save them as a new PDF and re-upload it so everyone can get the latest draft. (i.e. If your working on chapter 5 save your changes as version 5.1 then 5.2 and on and on)
Us just going through and removing the author comments at the end of the chapters and doing some basic punctuation and spelling corrections will go a long way on this big of a project.
Once a number of people, around 4ish, say a chapter is fully ready I'll move the latest file into a finished folder just so there are no more changes to it once people agree it's done. You can drop a txt file into the Drive or send something to the e-mail above saying a chapter is ready to go. Make sure you include the version number you are talking about in your message so we all stay on the same page.
Here's hoping we can get something official worked out! Until then lets do what we can, until we can't do any more!

It's great to see enthusiasm for Project Horizons!

Have you spoken with Somber about editing his story? Community involvement is a great way to accomplish a daunting task in a short time, but we need to be respectful of Somber's wishes

You are absolutely right. I am getting to fired up and putting the cart before the horse.

I, unfortunately, have no idea how to go about contacting him. I also didn't want to speak for the "Absolutely Everything" community when I am just a small part of it. I was hoping you or someone who has been involved in the printings before would know how to contact Somber.

Kinda gives it more authority than me, the lone forum member...

I'll drop the link from the initial post until an actual "Go" is received, but I'll keep the Drive built and ready if we get it.

Somber has decided against any major revisions. Spelling mistakes, etc... will still be fixed, but only if the chapter hasn't been uploaded to Fimfiction yet. (You could ask him for an exception/extension for the book printing project, but I'm not very optimistic about that.)
If you find any mistakes, the best place to report them is the official PH discussion thread in the Cloudsville forums.

Emails are the best way if you want to contact Somber directly. His email address is in the authors notes.

Glad to see such an enthusiasm, but I really don't think that public-open files are great idea.
Trolls and idiots are everywhere and it all can end up really ****ed up.

As scootayay said, just send any corrections you make directly to sombers email or post it on cloudsville's forum.

Corrections should be posted in the cloudsville discussion thread, not sent to Somber directly. That way the PH editors can see the corrections as well.

Oh yeah, you're right, my bad, sorry.

Our editing team will not be working on Project Horizons.

If you want to get involved or if there's anything in the story you feel should be addressed, it seems the cloudsville forums are the best way to speak with Somber's editors.

Okay. My bad on jumping the gun. :twilightsheepish:

I have deleted the drive and the Google account associated with it.

I've compiled a list of the typos pointed out by FIMFiction users in the comments sections for the chapters there.
