PDF clarifacation.

Alright, Just an update on the PDFs. They are no longer on the facebook page, and we will not put them on the facebook page. This is because of many reasons. First reason being that it's extremely inefficient to try and allow 1000+ people to download 5 massive files through dropbox. After so many downloads, Alex's and Dylan's dropboxes normally froze for a good amount of time before anyone else could get their hands on it. On top of that, it's hard to find in the massive page of comments and updates. There is also the issue of multiple occasions of our PDFs being used on lulu. We started the project promising to never use lulu. Although we will not put them on facebook, we will have them up on our website here soon. So please be patient and we'll get them out as soon as we can.

Just a quick-ish comment on it appearing on lulu. It's tempting to do it because I can't afford $130 and that's a lot of money for a single book, a lot more than any of my university books, even. While I wouldn't ever sell it, it is tempting to upload it to lulu just to see if it costs less from there and buy a copy if it's less expensive. Making money from it is wrong, and I agree with you there, but lulu does make it quick and easy to order a print copy.

It cost about the same price, It isn't 130 for one book, It's 130 for the whole set, they charge around 18-20$ for a book so 100$ something without including shipping so close to the same and what we do isn't Illegal which going through them is. They aren't even supposed to accept fanfics but they do a shitty job of scanning. I ask you not to do it. If you do, be prepared for a lot of backlash from us and Khat herself and having that book massively reported to the point that you won't get it anyway .

Something that could be worth doing looking into as a delivery method with the PDFs is to make them a torrent. A it would be just as legal as a straight download, but after the first handful other users could seed for each other and take the burden off of the dropboxes. You obviously can't control what people do with them, but its a much less of a headache for people to download.

Torrents are really not suitable for this. They only really work if a lot of people want the file and download it simultaneously. Otherwise you simply don't have the seed capacity, making it slow as hell and it would basically act like a normal download. You can't really expect people to continue seeding this.

A very simple solution would be to just upload the files here to this site. (For example as an attachment to a post or simply as a download on the main page) The capacity is easily there. This isn't called the Fallout:Equestria Resources site for nothing. The advantages are clear: no more dropbox download limits, faster downloads, full control over the downloads(e.g. only letting "approved" users download the files, ...) etc...

We will probably re-upload them on this site once I've got everything figured out. Life has been kind of wild for me recently so once I get back into the swing of things I can actually keep up with this site and make sure everything is planned out properly and available to everyone.

version_17.zip is the latest version, correct? If so, I have it uploaded on my shared hosting webspace, so I can provide a mirror if necessary.

That said, I will not be posting the link until either Arcane Scroll or RPpirate gives the OK.

Offering to put yours up as a mirror is very generous. At the moment, I think we're going to wait until the site is a little more stable with updates, and people.

That's what I figured.

The offer stands. Just let me know if and when. :)
